Can this really be Casio?

My first keyboard was a Casio. My brother bought for me when I was 12. It 'been a bit' more than toys, footnote 24, but it was mine, and I'm proud of myself. As I rose to my music and the scenes of serious, I'm tired and picky about my tools. Casio has a deserved reputation for being cheap, starter plates. The most expensive keyboard ever owned was a Yamaha DX7 FD. So far, I've never had a full size keyboard, 88 notes, not to mention the keyboard and the action realistic.

Enter the Casio PX-130. Exit all my preconceptions about Casio.

Appearance: Like the classic clean look of the instrument. There is a minimum of buttons and lights. There is no screen. This is primarily wants to be at the piano. He succeeds. You will return home in the church study, or living room. How I feel when I read, I must note that this is not an acoustic guitar. My fingers are convinced that the keys are connected to a large wooden chest in the shape of a traditional piano. I have not had a chance to see one of these in the store before purchasing. I was afraid of the keys would feel cheap. Of course, my expectations were blown away by the first contact. Do not be disappointed.

Sound: if you know what that sounds like a piano, you know what you think. I do not pretend to know how all the high-end audio, electronic pianos, but it can not be a cut above. Just as my fingers are easy to see that they play an acoustic piano, my ears are just as convinced. If you're thinking of buying an acoustic piano at home, they do so only for the value of a classic piece of furniture, not too sound. Casio that sounds a lot better than 90% of the pianos I played in the homes of people who visited. Interested parties are more than sufficient for most applications. Loud sound like coming right toward the center, while the opposite is true for the bass as you would expect from an acoustic piano. These comprehensive and realistic sounds like a compact is shocking. Do not be disappointed.

Features: This keyboard has several other sounds besides the traditional piano. To my ear, they are all quite good. Not everyone will find use for all of the sounds, but all of the sounds will be useful to many people. I will not take the time here to describe each sound. There are YouTube videos that do a good job of that. IMO, this keyboard would be well worth it just for the piano sound; the others make for a great bonus. You can split the keyboard to play two different sounds, or you can combine two different sounds to make one composite sound. There is a library of songs built into the memory that are readily accessible. You can even transfer files from your computer to be played on the keyboard. Speaking of computers, this is a great companion for a midi enabled computer, Mac or PC. I use a Mac. After connecting a USB cable, I was instantly able to use the keyboard to trigger the midi in all three of my music creation programs: GarageBand, Logic Studio, and Band in a Box. I experienced no detectable latency in any of the programs. It just worked. You can even record your performances directly in the piano's memory and send them to your computer for editing and use with other programs. There are many useful features. You will not be disappointed.

Value: Worth every penny of the asking price. However, you can find even better deals if you're willing to do a little research. Yes, it's Casio. No, not even the top model of the line is free. Do not let the low price or brand makes the transfer of this. From now on, I'm waiting for Casio Yamaha and Roland. Yes, I feel so stupid writing these things do not read. But it is there. I have to believe that the Casio PX-130 keyboard is the best value is in order.

Disadvantages: No action can be considered a toy. He said he is still plastic. It's not just the good stuff that Apple uses for the polycarbonate MacBook in white line. This is not something of an industrial quality. This is just an old cheap plastic. I suggest you buy a case if you travel with him. You should also prepare for a small learning curve. Because there are a few buttons, most of the functions are available only with a function key associated with one or more of the 88 keys played. It 's a bit annoying, but an acceptable compromise to get the look. Finally, I have more than one USB port. After such a useful device, think of the many ways to use a different USB port or two. It 's more a wish list item complaints.

Conclusion: Despite minor flaws, I'm glad he gave five stars. In fact, I'm going to buy another, especially for travel. I do not write many reviews, but I thought it important to do my part to spread the word about this product. Casio should be rewarded for what they did. They managed to reinvent themselves, and we are the beneficiaries. Do not be disappointed.
